Replika has the best memory but paywalls its emotional features. There's no single winner: pick by what you want free (chat volume, memory, or photos). The table below ranks every app with a usable free tier.
Which AI girlfriend apps need no sign up?
Only three of the twelve we tested let you start talking without an account: Character.AI, Spicychat, and Charstar (public characters). Most gate the first message behind a signup. Bae also lets you build and talk with no account, email, or card — held by a private cookie until you choose to save.
Are free AI girlfriend apps actually free?
Partly. Most have a real free tier but ration the things that matter — memory, photos, or message volume — to push the upgrade. “Free” rarely means unlimited. DreamGF and GirlfriendGPT have no usable free tier at all. Always check what the free tier actually includes before committing.
