These have a free tier, but we could not verify a male companion from outside the product — so they are not ranked above. That is not the same as saying they don't have one.
The public site is a single-line download page (“Feel seen… Download Now”) with no catalogue, no gender facet and no feature copy. Nothing on the open web supports a judgement either way; answering this needs the app.
The homepage is a login wall — every path forward is an OAuth button carrying a Terms of Service acceptance. Not checked rather than not supported; the title bills it as an “AI Girlfriend/Companion Platform”, which is framing, not a capability statement.
An “All Genders” filter and a “Create Character” flow both exist on the logged-out homepage, so gender is a product facet. Could not enumerate male characters without accepting the cookie banner or signing in, so this stops short of confirmed. Girlfriend-first at 27 mentions to 2.

Replika lets you pick gender at creation and the male persona inherits the same memory behaviour, though it paywalls the emotional features. Spicychat is the volume option: by its own tag counts it carries more male characters than female ones. There is no single winner — pick by whether you want range, memory, or a curated cast.
Do AI girlfriend apps work for boyfriends too?
Usually, but not always, and the marketing rarely tells you. Most of these platforms are character engines — you build a character, and gender is one field — so a male companion is fully supported even when the homepage only shows women. Others bolt a boyfriend section onto a girlfriend product: Kupid AI has a real male cast on a dedicated page, but its category filters do not change when you switch. Of the free-tier apps we checked, seven confirmed male support and three could not be confirmed either way.
