Character card

A structured persona definition — name, voice, backstory, relationship rules — used to instantiate an AI partner.

Character cards are the data structure most AI-companion platforms use to define a persona: name, visual description, tone of voice, behavior rules, sample dialogue. Character.AI popularized the format; Charstar and others build on it. Bae uses an extended card that includes relationship-state machinery (stages, milestones, mood) on top of the persona definition.

AI companion
Umbrella term for AI products built around ongoing one-on-one relationships — romantic, platonic, or supportive.
Memory canon
A user-readable, user-editable record of what an AI partner remembers about the user and the relationship.
